Who will give water?

When a rikishi lost match he won't stay to give water to the next rikishi,
but the hikae rikishi who is waiting for the next match after the one just
about to start is responsible to give water to the rikishi on dohyo for the
next match.

The winner of the second and third from the last match will stay as
kachinokori rikishi to make sure someone will give water to the rikishi for
the last match of the day.

If both the second and the third from the last match from a side lost, what
would happen?

In this case, I thought, yobidashi is the one giving water to the rikishi
for the last match.

But according to a sumo book, written by Moto-Sekiwake Kurama, the head
serving rikishi for the last rikishi will be serving water to him.

I don't remember this case, at all. Does anyone know if Kurama was joking
or my recollection is not quite right?
