New, Old MLs

We are already up to 34 members on the new Sumo ML. Some questions and
suggestions have arisen concerning this and the old ML.

1. Should we dismantle the old mailing list on native.usc.edu?

This will have to be done by the owner of that list, who I assume is
Luigi Manna. I (Chris Basten) have sent out one message to the old
list (as all of you know), so anyone who was on the old list should
know where to subscribe to the new one. We can post to the
   newsgroup soc.culture.japan as well.

As a temporary measure, I can place the address
sumoML@native.usc.edu in the new list, and then anything posted to
our list would go out to all the users on the old list. The only
problem is that if we can't unsubscribe to the old list, all the
members of the new list will get duplicate messages.

I guess we can't do much more about the old list until someone gets
   the attention of its owner.

2. There is an archive directory for our mailing list. It's usage is
described in the intro message. I have placed the most recent
banzuke in the archive, and called it 'banzuke.FEB.94'. I will
try to place each new banzuke in the archive with an appropriate name.

All mailings will be archived in files called 'sumo.March.94',
'sumo.April.94', etc. This process will be automated.

Finally, we can have mini-reports on things like techniques, history,
etc, in the archive so that they are available to everyone. Just mail
   a mini-report to 'sumo-owner@essspg.stat.ncsu.edu' with a note stating
what title the file should have, and I will place it in the archive
   directory.

Just a reminder, if you want to get a file from the archive (say
   banzuke.FEB.94), send the following

      From: Sumo-Fan@Where.Ever
      To: MajorDomo@essspg.stat.ncsu.edu

      get sumo banzuke.FEB.94

That's all for now.
