|Well, I received my copy of Sumo World yesterday (the first time it
|has ever come before the basho started!) and it said the record for
|consecutive yushos is 6. The most in recent times is 4 in 1985 I
|believe.
|
|Also, Takanohana is setting yet another youth record -- as the
|youngest Kadoban-Ozeki ever. Takanohana is now fully recovered and
|expected to easilly retain his Ozeki rank (but he did spend a week
|in the hospital immediately following the basho).
|
|Now for error corrections: I misstated in saying that Konishiki
|needs kachi-koshi for automatic reinstatement as Ozeki, he needs 10
|wins. Also, in the error correction section Andy Adams admitted
|that they had errored and it was Konishiki's seventh rather than
|ninth Kadoban status last basho.
|
|All for now,
|
|Richard Webb
