|I just got my Sumo World yesterday [thanks Andy for another timely
|issue, only two days after the basho started] and read that this is
|Konishiki's nineth basho as Kadoban Ozeki (Ozeki in jeopardy of
|demotion, pardon me if kadoban is not the proper term). It seems
|to me that this must be some kind of record. In another article
|discussing concurrent Ozeki from the same heya (there have been 11
|such occurrances, lasting from one basho to something like 3 years,
|and even three Ozeki from the same heya for one basho), they were
|counting the great Ozeki in terms of 20 basho as an Ozeki.
|Konishiki is into his high 40s I believe. Can anyone clarify what
|the records are for tenure as Ozeki and fighting off Kadoban
|position without demotion?
|
|Just curious,
|
