|I believe there are two technical rules covering cases were a wrestler
|is out *without* touching.
|
|1) if a wrestler is carrying the other wrestler and walks out of the
| ring, the one doing the carrying wins, even though the one being
| carried never touches the ground. Thus if Akebono were to lift
| Mainoumi up and then march out of the ring holding Mainoumi up in
| the air, Akebono would win.
|
|2) Imagine the ring as a cylinder extending up from the dohjo to the
| ceiling. As soon as wrestler's entire body leaves the cylinder
| of the ring, he is "out." Thus, if Akebono picked up Mainoumi and
| threw him into the third row, Mainoumi would lose the match the
| instant his entire body cleared the cylinder of the ring - not several
| seconds later when he lands on some unlucky sumo fan.
|
|I missed the day one bouts, but it may well be that Kotofuji cleared
|the cylinder of the ring before Wakanohana's hand touched the ground.
|If that were the case, then Wakanohana deserved the win.
