|
|It may be a little early to write him off, but my understanding
|(gathered largely from Sumo World) was that Takanohana had to win
|at least 13 bouts, with no losses to low-ranking maegashira to get
|his promotion to Yokozuna. Thus, it looks to me like he may be in
|a bit of a bind. If he wins the balance of his bouts, he could
|still win the yusho (provided Akebono loses to Wakanohana and
|Wakanohana loses to someone) but this seems fairly unlikely. Any
|other opinions?
|
|Also, what is wrong with my man Musashimaru? I understand the loss
|to Akebono, but Kenko and Kotobeppu? He should whale on those
|dudes. Right now he's at 4-3, and he still has the hard competion
|coming up (Futagoyama rikishi).
|
|Finally, Konishiki will be in the 'jeopardy' position of Ozeki next
|basho, based on his withdrawal from this one I believe. Can any
|more authoritative figures confirm this?
|
|Later,
|
