Dear Sumo ML, Thanks for the feedback re:ML vs. newgroup. Thanks for the
suggestions Olaf re: the ML, however I am not the computer wizard/systems
operator that is required for setting up a better ML. I am only new to
the net, and have spent the last 2 months getting to this stage I am at
now (fairly primitive). I agree with Tony that it is perhaps the least
hassle to set up a newsgroup. That way we could also catch new members,
more easily. Sure there might be the odd flamer or two, however I think
this would be minimial and would also give us a chance to set those, not in
the know, right about this wonderful sport. I think that if it was a
soc.culture.japan.sumo newsgroup we would perhaps catch more genuine sumo
fans, as it is usually expatriate Japanese and foreigners who have spent
time in Japan, that are usually those wanting this service and therefore
more likely that anyone interested will be looking through the s.c.j
newsgroup. Also thanks Olaf re: suggestions about Ange, Rita and David
Thiel's e-mail addresses. Olaf had some bounce back from the addresses
given and has found that <a-albsmeyer@uiuc.edu>, <d-thiel@uiuc.edu> and
<r-schulte@uiuc.edu> seems to work better for him. I've updated them as
given here for this posting, so hopefully it will stop bounce back for
some people by using this new format of address. I didn't have any trouble
with the previous addresses, however it is probably best if Ange, Rita and
David give us a bit more feedback re: their correct/best address format so
that there are no problems in future. Lastly, talking to a friend from
Japan last night on the phone, I found out that Waka, actually threw up
twice after his final day bout, before fighting Akebono(it was big news
but no reason given), and that its official Waka will start as an Ozeki in
the next basho. Also of interest is that Waka's popularity in Japan has
surged past that of his brother (justice I think because although not as
showy, I think he is the more solid fighter). He's even got a commercial
in the wind at a price three times that of the last huge offer Taka got
for a commercial. That's all for now, please keep coming in with
thoughts/suggestions re: ML vs. newsgroup, and if the former who can
help(computer wizards please step forward) and if the latter which
newsgroup would be most appropriate.

Yoroshiku, Pete.
