Ohayou mina-san,
First of all, for those in the San Diego, Los Angeles and San Bernadino
area, KSCI (channel 18) will be broadcasting the San Jose Tournament (it's
not really a basho, now is it?) on Saturday July 24. Airing starts at 11pm
PDT and will last for one hour.
Now, in reply to Martin's post, I do fit the description to set up a
"proper" mailing list, _but_ will loose all computer access in the second
half of September for an unknown period of time. If you must know, I'll be
going to attend a language institute in Nagano for a year. I don't have the
foggiest about computer facilities over there, let alone the privileges
I'll be granted.
In private E-mail I have asked Pete if he could persuade his sysadmin to
create a new account for him (sumo@..., osumo3@...) solely for forwarding
to all people on the mailing list. From his post to this list it looked
like he could get one, but I haven't heard anything so far from Down Under.
If he can't get one, I guess Martin is the next best option. If necessary,
I'll be more than happy to help out with setting the thing up, it's not
that hard anyway.
Personally, I'd rather stick with the mailing list, but if we decide or are
"forced" to create a new newsgroup then we may as well try to make it
official: rec.sport.sumo. We can always create alt.sport.sumo if we have
to, ne? I believe the official newsgroups are carried by all news-nodes
whereas your local news-node sysadmin is free to decide whether or not to
carry any of the alt. groups.
