Dear Sumo ML, Here are the full results of the second last day of the
basho. We all know the big result, but it'll be interesting to see the
commentary and of course the final results of some of the other rikishi.
Still more people keep rolling in to this ever expanding sumo ML, so
welcome to David, Kenta, Fer-Jan and Reijer. I've had a few suggestions
about how to get over the problem of this ever growing ML, however as this
is my research e-mail account in a research area not really related to
sumo or computing, I would find it hard justifying to those above me,
redirecting sumo mail through this account. Please feel free to offer
suggestions/reccomendations to myself and the sumo ML re:getting this ML
working properly/automatically or formation of a separate sumo newsgroup.
Thanks again Tony for the fantastic work and to all other who have
contributed results, commentary, suggestions etc.
Yoroshiku, Pete Kaub.

Today it's still Akebono. Musashimaru beaten again. His record is now 7-7.
Akebono and Konishiki go belly to belly.
Winner Loser Technique
Kenko 9-5 Minatofuji 8-6 Yori Kiri
Daizen 9-5 :-) Kotobeppu 8-6 Kime Taoshi
Akinoshima 9-5 Tomonohana 8-6 Kime dashi
Toyonoumi 6-8 Kiraiho 8-5 Koto nage = Arm lock throw
Takamisugato 7-7 Hitachiryu 5-9 Yori kiri
Kushimaumi 5-9 Aogiyama 5-9 Tsuki Otoshi = Twist down
Kotoinazuma 5-9 Mainoumi 3-10 Hitaki Kome = ?
Daishohou 4-10 Oginishiki 3-11 Oshi dashi
Mitiozumi 8-6 Kasugafuji 8-5 ? = Double arm lock out :-)))))
Kitachidoki 4-10 Tomefuji 5-9 Oshi dashi
Misugisato 5-9 Oginohana 4-10 Kime dashi
Kotonowaka 7-7 ? 4-10 Okuri dashi
Kyokudozan 3-11 Kirishima 3-11 Okuri dashi = Rear push out
Tochinowaka 10-4 Kotonishiki 11-3 Abise Taoshi = Pushing crush out!
Takatoriki 8-6 Higonoumi 8-6 Tsuki otoshi
Kotofuhi 10-4 Wakashoyo 6-8 Shitate nage = inside arm throw
Wakanohana 12-2 Tokitsunada 5-9 Yori Taoshi
Takanonaumi 9-5 Terao 8-6 Yori kiri
Takanohana 12-2 Musashimaru 7-7 Yori Kiri
Akebono 13-1 Konishiki 9-5 Uwate nage = Outside arm throw
Daizen has certainly bathing in respectability. 9-5 is safe and 10 and 5
tomorrow will even be better. He has performed well this tournament
considering his lousy start.
Mitiozumi is now 8-6. He is using his strong arms to make up for his weak
knee tis Basho and it's helping a lot. Wouldn't supprise me if he is
weight training on off hours. Very well done, buddy!
The last nine days Musashimaru has been no more than fodder for the
bolstering of records. He has been dismal and may even finish this Basho
with a losing record. I'm sure his stable is pissed and is probally really
going to work those quadraceps into better shape.
Taka and Waka looked confident today. In Wakanohana's match his opponent
jumped off too early and nearly slammed into him. Tokitsunada bowed nicely
to apologize and Wakanohana recipracated in very nice way. When Waka beat
him he helped him up quickly and bowed as he did it. It was a very nice
thing to see.
What does 1,043 pounds equal? An Akebono/Konishiki sandwich. The match was
over quickly with Akebono throwing Konishiki with a new move. He let Kevin
slam him, then grabed one arm and threw him judo style. Kevin rolled like
a redwood tree. Akebono did not stay to help him up. Kevin didn't mind.
(or is his name Jesse?)
Tomorrow is the last day of the Basho and for some reason the 'Ohana boys
look confident. We will see.
