AND THEN THERE WAS ONE! Akebono fought Wakanohana today. Musashimaru is

still falling apart! Daizen records his eighth win! 3 are now tied for

second place and with two days remaining it's a 4 man race for the win

Terao 8-5 Misugisato 4-9 Hiki otoshi = pull down

Kotonishiki 11-2 Mitiozumi 7-6 |-( Yori kiri

Oginishiki 3-10 Kirishima 3-10 ?

Wakashoyo 6-7 Tokitsunada 5-8 Oshi dashi

Kushimaumi 4-9 Takatoriki 7-6 Oshi dashi

Takanonami 8-5 Tomefuji 5-8 Kake nage = inside leg hook

Kotofuji 9-4 Musashimaru 7-6 Yori Kiri

Konishiki 9-4 Tochinowaka 9-4 Yori kiri

Takanohana 11-2 Kitachidoki 3-10 Okuri dashi = Rear push out

Akebono 12-1 Wakanohana 11-2 Oshi Taoshi = Push down

WAKANOHANA GOES DOWN! He made the mistake of trying to fight Akebono like

Akinoshima. For a split second it did effect the Hawaiian but it was to

late for Wakanohana. Akebono had a firm grip on Waka's belt while Waka

had an unstable center of gravity trying to dart to his right like

Akinoshima did. The bout was over quickly. Waka should of realized that

Akebono studies the films as well as gets advice from my Sumo news posts.

If he would have he would of fought him like a Hana and probally would

of won.

Takanohana, Wakanohana, and Kotonishiki are tied for second now. If

Konishiki beats Akebono tomorrow; Look for a Takanohana vs Akebono

bout on Monday to decide the Basho.

The longest bout of the night was Mitiozumi and Kotonishiki. Mitiozumi

was ultimately beaten by fatigue. The match was long and Mitiozumi

held the advantage throughout. Both were picking each other up and such

but Mitiozumi couldn't close it. I look for him to chalk up at least

one more winbefore the Basho is over.

Musashimaru's has utterly collapsed in the standings! Coming into the 6th

day of the Basho he had a 5-0 record. Since then he has only managed to

win 2 bouts in the last 8. Tomorrow he fights one of the Hana brothers

and I don't expect a Musashimaru victory. His only chance to get into the

plus side will be Monday.

Konishiki won tonight by leaning forward and practically falling on his

Tochinowaka. It never occurred to Tochinowaka to step back and to the

right or left and let Konishiki's weight make the Hawaiian fall. I bet

he will really kick himself tomorrow when he sees the films or reads

my posts.

Today at the Super Nintendo Basho held in Los Angeles, California,

Tony-no-bono was promoted to YOKOZUNA. Tony-no-bono celebrated by renting

a Japanese film called TEITO MONOGATARI. (I give it a thumbs up.)
