Re: Sumo ML

Hi everybody, I'm new to the Sumo mailing list.
I'm Eric Peterson, in Dallas, Texas. Work as a geophysicist at Mobil Research.

I watch "Today's Japan" on PBS. It shows 3 matches each weeknight during basho.
Wish I could see more! Anyone know how to subscribe to Sumo World?

My Sumo History:
I went to a Tokyo Basho in 1978, and Chiyonofuji had just made the Makunouchi division.
I thought he was great because he was the smallest one, and looked mean and tough. He
has been my favorite ever since then. I never thought he would make Yokozuna because he
was so small. But he put on some weight!

I went to a one-day Basho in Hamamatsu in 1982, andd got to shake hands with Kitanoumi and
Takamiyama backstage! (My wife's father was in the fan club of Masudayama). Also got to
try Chankonabe! Ummm!

I saw the first San Jose Basho in 1983 (?) and got autographs of several rikishi, including Chiyo.

I try to go to Japan often for meetings or vacation. Love to travel around the countryside.
Last October went to Takayama, Matsumoto, Shirakawago and Kyoto, by car.

Yoroshiku! Sayonara!

P.S. I try to keep up my Japanese, but I'm losing it!
