Sumo results (fwd)

Dear everyone, here are the results of day 8. I presumed Tony was sending
to everyone through the ML automatically, however he said he can't quite
get his head around the editor he has, so I'll bounce this set off to
everyone. To anyone who is missing results from previous to this posting
and who really want them, please look up the soc.culture.japan newsgroup
or send a request to me for specific day's results.

Yoroshiku, Pete Kaub.

Good to see Terao coming back with avengance. Oh and does anybody have an
idea how they settle a last day tie with an odd number of rikishi? Like I
said before it'd be great to see a Waka, Taka, Aka tie, but how would they
settle it?

Peter. I forgot to mention the mailing list again. It's late when I do this.
Also I am to computer illiterate to send to everyone. Could you do it
for me? I'm still not use to this UNIX editor I am using.

Thanks

HE'S OUT OF LAST PLACE! In a highly stylized victory; Mainoumi wins his second i

n a row with an inside leg hooking throw.

Winner Loser Throw

Hitachiryu 4-4 Minatofuji 4-4 Yori Kiri

Kenko 4-4 Aogiyama 3-5 Sukui Nage = Scoop throw

Kiraiho 5-3 Tomonohana 4-4 Yori Kiri

Terao 6-2 Daizen 4-4 Hataki Komi = Slap throw

Higonoumi 4-4 Tochinowaka 6-2 Hiki Otaoshi = Pull down

Kotofuji 5-2 Akinoshima 5-2 Yori Taoshi = Pull down

Kusagafuji 6-2 Kotoinazuma 4-4 Hataki Komi

Toyonoumi 3-5 Daishoyama 2-6 Hiki Otaoshi

Takamisugi 4-4 Daishohou 2-6 Oshi Dashi

Mitiozumi 3-5 Oginishiki 1-6 Yori Kiri

Kushimaumi 2-6 Kitakachidoki 1-7 Oshi Dashi

Misugisato 4-4 Kotobeppu 3-5 Hataki Komi

Mainoumi 2-6 Kirishima 1-7 Kake nage = Inside leg hooking

Takatoriki 5-3 Oginohana 2-5 Hataki Komi

Kotonowaka 3-5 Wakashoyo 4-3 Oshi dashi

Wakanohana 8-0 Tomefuji 3-4 Oshi Dashi

Kotonishiki 7-1 Takanonami 4-3 Yori Taoshi = Crush out (Ouch!)

Takanohana 7-1 Kyokudozan 2-5 Yori Kiri

Konishiki 6-2 Musashimaru 6-2 Yori Kiri

Akebono 8-0 Tokitsunada 3-5 Yori Kiri

The 8th of a Basho is the most important day for an undefeated Ozeki. From

that day forward he can lose the rest of the Basho and not fear demotion.

Other Ozekis with a less perfect record have only 6 more bouts to get into

the plus wins catagory.

AND STILL THERE WAS 2. Akebono won his match in less than 2 seconds. He sprinted

his man out of the ring sending a message to other rikishi that

yesterday was just a fluke.

Wakanohana continues his assault and has not once looked in trouble. Perhaps

this could make him overconfident when he faces the Hawaiians.

Musashimaru BLEW IT! That's OK though because I was rooting for Konishiki.

Musashimaru charged into Konishiki like he was trying to push a Volkswagon

up a hill. When Musa wasn't looking; Konishiki strapped roller skates onto Musa'

s feet and walked Mushimaru out of the ring while his feet slide and begged for

traction.

There are two people tied for second! Takanohana and Kotonishiki. Could these tw

o rikishi cause a 4 way tie between Akebono, Wakanohana and themselves?
