There was a Japanese movie a few years ago. The star was the same actor
who beat Tom Cruise senseless in "Last Samurai." The movie -- Tasugari
Sebei -- and I apologize again if the romanji sucks, was about the end of
the shogunate. Samurai had become salarymen. There was only one guy in
their "office" who could fight, and he ended up doing their dirty work.
He was poor, and a widower, but he still "had it." This is one of the
best movies I have seen period, so don't miss it.
English title "Twilight Samurai" (romanji "Tasogare Seibei" according to
IMDB) staring Hiroyuki Sanada. This was one of the best
non-Kurosawa/Mifune Samurai movies I've seen. BTW, Hiroyuki Sanada is
actually very accomplished with the katana and spent quite a bit of time
helping Tom Cruise and Ken Watanabe learn to fight. It's kinda funny in
that he played the sward master/teacher in "The Last Samurai" both on
screen and off.
Thank you for watching the show "Trivia with Kuramarujo." We now return
to your regularly scheduled programming.
