Both of you make very valid points. To think that a married man with a
family has to ask PERMISSION to travel - and that applies to all married or
unmarried rikishi although applicable only to either of the money earning
ranks. (The lower ranks can't travel at all unless given special permission
after doing particularly well at the previous basho. And that, my friends is
VERY rare.) I'll bet if the Kyokai thought they would profit from these
trips in the long run, they wouldn't care a damn.

Thank you, Joe, too. I wondered about all of Takanohana Oyakata's TV gigs.
I also wonder if the Kyokai approved of Taka's appearance in the Fuji TV
broadcast of Asa's Japanese wedding celebration, as well. He wasn't exactly
Mr. Charisma, either, if any of you saw the "show".  

Actually Asa did want to take a trip to Hawaii earlier in the year, but
canceled on his own initiative because of some sumo-related thing. And there
is a VERY good reason for this very private trip, with or without anyone's
approval.

Ah, well, at least no one knows where we're all staying ;-D  And the
Honolulu press has not said anything yet.
