NAGOYA -- Sumo stablemaster Takanohana started training wrestlers in his
stable on Tuesday ahead of the Nagoya Grand Sumo Tournament, surrounded by
dozens of reporters who have been following him over his rift with his
brother, former sumo Yokozuna Wakanohana.

Wearing the mawashi he sported in his wrestling days, Takanohana stepped
into the training ring to face young wrestlers in the stable, ordering them
to take him on.

Takanohana has been at odds with his brother since the May 30 death of their
father, former sumo wrestling great Futagoyama, and reporters have focused
on the rift between them.

About 100 cameramen and reporters turned up at the Nagoya training facility
on Tuesday, but Takanohana refused to answer questions related to gossip
shows.

"In Nagoya I only want to think about sumo," he said. "Before the tournament
I want to put my effort (into training)." (Mainichi)
