Re: [sumo] Wakanosato- was "Kabu bought. . ."

Now, I just enjoy those occasional upsets and don't really pay much attention to him otherwise because I think he has very little chance of promotion unless he completely changes his mental approach to sumo. Am I completely wrong? I would like to hear what all those Wakanosato supporters have to say. What is it that you see in him? Do you think he will rise to Ozeki or Yokozuna someday?

... I just wonder if that's the only reason you'd root for a rikishi. Maybe
you're right, Wakanosato may not be able to rise to Ozeki ( ..I'd still
of course go with Josh's tenet though :-) ), but that's just fine. I think we
all have reasons to grow to support special rikishi. Or sometimes you don't even know why you like the rikishi that much.

What I see in him is not only his outstanding sukuinage, or the probability for ozekihood. I guess that he's from my hometown has a lot to it. I do like his own (occasionally-a-bit-too-foolishly) honest sumo which you limned as "going-my-way-at-any-cost" style. His true deference to Naruto Oyakata ( who, by the way, was so much like Wakanosato when active - diligent, honest, and sometimes too clean to his own sumo-do ). Brutal power. Willpower. Modest manner. Docility. His tsugaru-no-joppari-seishin ( help, Josh! ) which he's proved by overcoming the crucial injury... but after all, I'd root for him just the same when his beautiful sumo was not there - I'd want to do even more so, if he's in a miserable losing streak.

Well, actually I really don't know the reason like him so much - except that he was smiling so cutely when we ate chanko together. :-)
