[sumo] All time kensho record for Natsu basho 2005 !!

Hi list,

The Natsu basho 2005 is about to start, but it seems that this basho is 
already in sumo history book. Indeed, according to Nikkan and Hochi, there 
will be more than 1000 kensho given in this basho, and this will be all time 
record. The last record was held by the Hatsu basho 2005 with its 883 
kensho.

Everyone is telling that sumo popularity is at an all time low in japanese 
hearts, but the sponsors do not care about that, and may think the other way 
round.

About the most kensho clinched by an individual in a basho, Asashoryu holds 
this record with his zensho yusho in the Hatsu basho 2005, as he earned 290 
kensho. Asashoryu hold all the top performance for earning  the most kensho 
in a basho. Without taking Asashoryu into account, Chiyonofuji with its 175 
kensho in the Aki basho 1989 is the best and tops all Takanohana, Akebono, 
Musashimaru performances for clinching the most kensho in a basho.

If Asashoryu put another zensho yusho in the coming Natsu basho 2005, he 
will surely break his own record and will top the 300 kensho plateau in a 
single basho.

For information, the Natsu basho 2000 with only 202 kensho held the record 
for the basho with the less kensho given by sponsors.
