How is your opinion of the Emperor of Japan any less disparaging (except
given the recent death)? I think the point was that a revered person in
their profession then moving to another aspect of that profession, but one
that is widely seen as a parody of the original, gives a rather hollow
feeling to the fans or supporters.

So, Akebono moving from a pro sport to another that is largely rigged and
about entertainment leaves a bad taste, just as if a revered religious
leader moved into televangelism (I presume - never heard of the guy you
mention), or whatever.
