Special Events And Services During The May 2005 Grand Sumo Tournament
- The following special events and services have been scheduled for the
May 2005 Tournament. (May 8th - 22nd, 2005)
Two Special Ticket Packages Celebrating The 80th Anniversary Of The
Nihon Sumo Kyokai's Foundation Status
A Standard Sized Box Just For Two - ¥18,400
- 100 C Section Boxes (seats 4) per tournament day will be sold as
boxes to be used by two people.
General Admission Coupon Set -¥20,000 for 15 tournament days
- 30 seats will be made available over the course of the tournament for
this block style of purchase. Save ¥11,500 yen over the regular cost of
purchasing one General Admission Seat for the full fifteen days.
Win A Pair Of Free Tickets To The September 2005 Grand Sumo Tournament.
2,000 pairs, a total of 4,000 tickets will be up for grabs!
- To participate in this drawing please fill out the application
(Doskoi Application Form) available inside the Kokugikan.
- A total of 4,000 tickets in 2,000 sets for the September 2005
tournament will be awarded.
- Winners will be announced by the posting of a coupon to be exchanged
for the free tickets.
Four Tournament Days Of Free Give-aways!
- Everyone attending on the 2nd day (Monday), 3rd day (Tuesday), 9th
day (Monday) and the 10th day (Tuesday) will receive a popular rikishi
clear file.
Famous Bouts of the Past / Makushita and Below Match Updates
- Large screen monitors will be placed in the entrance hall and the
rest area on the second floor in front of the restaurant where famous
bouts of the past will be shown daily between noon and 1:30 (in
cooperation with NHK).
- From 1:30 on the results of bouts in Makushita and below will be
displayed (in cooperation with goo).
Sample What Sumo's Stars Eat - Chanko At The Kokugikan / Kokugikan Cafe
- Sumo's famous "champion building" stew, chanko-nabe, will be served
at the Kokugikan during the May tournament. It's a taste treat you will
not want to miss.
- Chanko will be served in the Kokugikan Sumo Kyoshujo (Sumo School)
everyday at noon and at 2:00. The price for one bowl is 200 yen.
- A new refreshment stand, The Kokugikan Cafe, will be opened for
business on the 2nd floor, west aisle from 10:00 to 5:00 each tournament

- Ice cream, burgers and draft beer are available.
Special In-House Radio Broadcasts! (Doskoi FM)
- Enjoy a special FM radio broadcast (available only in the Kokugikan)
featuring ongoing color commentary by some of sumo's past stars while
watching the day's bouts.
- 83.4MHz (in-house broadcast)
You can now also listen to NHK's television feed as well.
- 76.6MHz (in Japanese)
- 78.3MHz (in English)
Note: For those people without a portable radio, reasonably priced
rentals are available in the Kokugikan.
