TV Japan via Dish Network (was RE: [sumo] oshi-dashi'd message)

Still possible as Dish offers its foreign language programming
(including TV Japan) on the "side birds". Let me clarify. Dish has 4
satellites in the sky. The bulk of the programming is carried on
satellites 110°W and 119°W. Using a dual LNB oval dish will point at
this two birds and select the appropriate signal. This is Dish's core
programming.
Foreign language programming is on both 61.5°W (Eastern US) or 148°W
(Western US) and can be accessed via a single LNB round dish. The
satellite you select depends on where you are in the US and which one
is visible over the horizon.
As you can surmise, if you want to get TV Japan in addition to foreign
language channels, you will need 2 dishes. A co-focal (oval) dish
pointed at the dual birds 110/119 and a "side" pointing (round) dish
pointing at 61.5 or 148. That is my current set-up. As I live in
California, I am utilizing 148.
So if you need only TV Japan (or other foreign language programming)
and want no other programming, you can get away with a single round
dish pointed at either 61.5 or 148. If you want to add on core
programming in addition to TV Japan you will need another dish.
Either the co-focal (oval) dish Stuart mentioned or 2 round dishes
pointed at 110 and 119 separately.
Hope this helps.
