Family:
Father - Felix, 49 years old. Wrestling coach. Placed
first at former Soviet wrestling championships. 
Mother: Fatima, 45 years old, housewife
Brother (older): Soslan, 24 years old, Makuuchi
rikishi.
Sister (younger): Elena, 12 years old, student.

Sports History:
Started wrestling at the age of 14 and became Russia's
the Junior Champion. 
Started sumo at the age of 18 and then soon after,
proceeded to win yusho at the Moscow Championship in
the 100 kg and over category.
Winning yushos at other Russian and European meets. 
Placing the second at the 2002 World Junior Sumo
Championship in the group category (the first was
Japan).

Motive of joining:
I've seen sumo on TV and wanted to try it. I always
wanted to turn pro one day from the very beginning.
Fortunately through a friend of my father, I was able
to get a contact and I arrived in Japan with my
brother.


Views at the time of entering Juryo:
"Both in the May and July, for the two consecutive
bashos I was able to move well. I was able to compete
each bout without getting nervous."
