[sumo] Jonokuchi Noguchiyama
I am very much aware that this will hold very little
interest to a vast number of people here but I kind
like this type of information in case this guy ever
gets to be a sekitori one day.
A 19 year old new recruit, Noguchiyama of Kitanoumi
Beya, made his dohyo debut in this Aki Basho. In the
Kyokai's record it says he is from Saitama Prefecture
but actually he grew up in Manila, Philippines.
When he was eight years old, his parents divorced and
he went to live with his mother who is from
Philippines. Noguchi (his real name) played basketball
in schools and his team went to the Best 8 in a
regional championship there.
He decided to quit High School and come to Japan alone
when he was 17 years old. While staying with his uncle
in Wako City, Saitama, he's worked as a day laborer
working for a variety of road construction and house
building companies. A friend of his uncle introduced
him to Kitanoumi Beya officials and he decided to join
the heya.
Here's his record on Mae-zumo at the Aki Basho:
On Day 3 Kobayashi(Nishikido Beya) - from moro-zashi,
pushed him to the Nishi dohyo to win by Yoritaoshi
On Day 4 Kototakeuchi (Sadogatake) - loss
On Day 5 Shimado (Nishikido) - winning by Shitate-nage
On Day 6 Takamori (Ajigawa) - winning by Shitate-nage
He cleared Mae-zumo with the top record of 3 wins and
1 loss.
This Kyushu Basho ranked at Jonokuchi East 37, he had
kachikoshi with 4 wins and 3 losses.
On Day 2 Jonokuchi West 35 Tetsuhikari (Shikihide)
losing by Oshidashi
On Day 3 Jonokuchi East 38 Kototakeuchi(Sadogatake)
winning by Oshidashi
On Day 6 Jonokuchi East 39 Shimanokuni (Shibatayama)
losing by Hikiotoshi
On Day 7 Jonokuchi East 40 Hirai(Kise) winning by
Oshidashi
On Day 9 Jonokuchi West 37 Akinosato (Ajigawa) winning
by Shitate-nage
On Day 11 Jonokuchi West 39 Shikinokawa (Shikihide)
winning by Oshidashi
On Day 14 Jonokuchi West 27 Hayashida (Hanaregoma)
losing by Okuridashi
