Quite funny, but on a more serious note:

While making some badly needed filtering improvements, I learned a little
about spam.  When a spammer sends out, say, a million junk emails,
he gets several thousand of these 'out of office' auto-replies.  Of
course, he uses them to validate his database, making his lists more
valuable.

However, there are also automated tools that search the Net for the
absentees, yielding full name, home address, and vacation dates for a few
hundred folks.  This information is then sold to local burglary rings.

Unfortunately, the victims don't realize why they've been hit, so the
auto-responders keep on going.
