[sumo] Asashoryu vs Tokitenku
Yokozuna Asashoryu and Juryo East 2 Tokitenku were
having a friendly talk over drinks on Thursday night.
Then the subject of conversation turned into something
more omnious and the debate became more heated as
neither refused to budge on their belief. Neither
would not back down from their stand. The sparks were
flying all over.
They frantically started to try to find all the facts
they could on internet. They even placed long distance
calls to Mongolia to get to the bottom of it but to no
avail. After what seemed like an eternity or four
hours in Mongolian time battling with each other,
there was still no clear cut winner.
It was getting late and they were stuck in their
position, and not moving a centimeter. They were
getting sober and they needed a sleep badly. Obviously
it was the time for a "Mizu-iri" and so they pledged
to continue their fight in the morning.
So yesterday morning they restlessly completed their
morning keiko and rushed themselves to meet at a
pre-arranged meeting point, the Ueno Zoo in Tokyo.
Could this be the first ever Ozumo bout to be held in
the Ueno Zoo? The Ueno Zoo grounds, indeed.
The two of them stomped into the zoo's Animal
Consultant Office. The officer could hardly believe
his eyes seeing two large sized men wearing a mage
breathlessly barging into the office.
The two spoke almost at the same time in unison.
"Are Prairie Dogs the same kind as Marmots?"
"Huh????"
"We want to know whether Prairie Dogs are the same
kind as Marmots?"
"Oh."
This was what they have been arguing all night. The
two have been debating Bush-and-Kerry like virtually
all night about the rodent like creatures living in
alpine areas of Europe, North America and Asia.
But the officer as deft as Kimura Shonosuke is used to
questions such as this from kids of all ages all the
time and he simply tipped his "gunbai" to the
yokozuna.
"They both belong to the squirrel family but a
different kind. They are as different as lions and
tigers even though they are in the same cat family."
So the first ever Ueno Basho in sumo history has
completed with Asashoryu getting the convincing win
over Tokitenku. The Yokozuna looked triumphant and
looked so pleased with himself. "My heart is as clear
like the blue sky now," said Asashoryu shaking his
left hand with kids of all ages visiting the zoo.
Tokitenku, meanwhile, was last seen shaking his head
walking back towards his heya.
