[sumo] Chiganoura Oyakata Starts New Heya

Chiganoura oyakata (former sekiwake Masudayama), 53,
who founded his own heya after leaving Kasugano Beya
last month, presided over his very first full training
session at his own heya located now at Hashiba in
Tokyo's Taito-ward on October 4. 

"Whether the time left (12 years to Kyokai's mandatory
retirement age) is short or long is all up to yourself
really. I won't overly rush myself and will try to
instruct new rikishis patiently so that they can
develop good power and some human quality," Chiganoura
oyakata said. 

Moves to the heya have been all completed by September
27 and as of October 4, the heya's four recruits
including Makushita Tochinoyama, Jonokuchi Tochinonami
are now living in the new building. As the training
dohyo has not been replaced yet with new soil, the
rikishis only did flexibility exercises, shiko and
light "butsukari" session on their first day.

As Moti pointed out in his post, the heya building was
offered to him by the former Takasago oyakata (former
Komusubi Fujinishiki) and has enough space to
accomodate up to 30 recruits on the second floor. His
main task for the foreseeable future is to attract new
recruits for the heya. "I intend to work hard on
scouting and hopefully I can develop many, many
rikishis to make this place really exciting,"
Chiganoura oyakata said.
