Well Taizeniki, it's a time like this that we
appreciate we have some members who know the city well
or live there whether we can get a discount or not.
I think we should definitely get a place so those of
us want to talk over a few cold ones about the day's
events and exchange the stories. We don't get an
oppoortunity like this often.
I've never been to a foregn jyungyo myself but have
been a regional jyungyo tour stop. Now mostly these
"bashos" are not really competitive but there are much
more pluses than minuses for the fans. Rikishis and
oyakatas are much more relaxed. They talk to you
easily (even if you do not speak Japanese) and you can
get your photos taken with them and possiblity get
their "autograph". It's like going to a spring
training in baseball.
And another thing. They are also in a touristy mode
so they sure appreciate knowing a good spot or two
that you can recommend to picke souvenirs for folks
back home.
Every two months you get an opportunity to see them on
a honbasho if you can go to Japan but you don't have
this type of chance not often especially if you don't
need to travel all day to get there for those of us
living in North America.
