[sumo] [games] last call to play "Pick the Yusho Winners" Aki 2004

The deadline to play "Pick the Yusho Winners" is fast approaching. Please
get those entries in!
If you don't know much about the rikishi in lower divisions, just pick who
you think might win the yusho in Makuuchi (and/or Juryo) and try using the
drone's picks for the other categories. Last basho the drone scored better
than the majority of players! Good luck!
 - Oshirokita, from the Great White North

> Hi, this is your invitation to play "Pick the Yusho Winners" for the Aki
> basho. Thanks to everyone who played in the inaugural basho last time and
I
> hope we have even more players this time!
>
> The concept is simple: just pick who you believe will be the yusho winners
> for all the divisions.
> For Makuuchi pick one sanyaku (Komusubi, Sekiwake, Ozeki or Yokozuna) and
> one Maegashira. For Makushita pick two (one from Ms1 to Ms15 and one from
> Ms16 or lower). For Juryo, Sandanme, Jonidan & Jonokuchi pick one each.
>
> Deadline to enter is 12noon JST on Day 1 of the basho. I have been slow to
> set up my webpage, so all entries must be sent to me by email with the
> subject line: [Pick the Yusho Winners Aki 2004] to brucejr@shaw.ca
>
> Email your entry in the following example format:
>
> Your shikona: DRONE
>
> Sanyaku: Asashoryu
> Maegashira: Kotooshu
> Juryo: Kotoshogiku
> Upper Makushita (1-15): Toyonokuni
> Lower Makushita (16-60): Chiyonohana
> Sandanme: Shiraishi
> Jonidan: Baruto
> Jonokuchi: Kotonarita
>
> The first place I found with the current banzuke for all divisions is at
> Bandey's site: http://www.szumo.hu/fullbanz/2004Aki/JONOKUCHI.HTM
>
> A good place to research all rikishi's results for the last few basho is
at
> the excellent:
>
> The above example is picked by choosing the rikishi in each category who
had
> the most wins last basho and will be used as a drone entry. If any rikishi
> in your picks is kyujo on Day One, he will be replaced by the drone's
entry
> for that spot. (If one of the drone's picks is kyujo, the next best
rikishi
> from last basho will be taken, higher rank breaking ties.) You may change
> your entry as often as you want before the deadline. Only one shikona per
> player please.
>
> Scoring: each win your picks gets scores you 1 point. Each rikishi you
pick
> who is kachi koshi scores you a bonus point. Each rikishi you pick who
wins
> their division's yusho scores you 2 additional bonus points (eg. Asashoryu
> 13 wins +1 for kachi koshi +2 for yusho = 16). The maximum possible score
is
> 100 points but usually will be much lower. Last basho the best possible
> score was 92. Last basho's winner of the Pick the Yusho Winners game
> (Azumaryu) scored 80.
>
> Player rankings: all new players start ranked in Jonokuchi. A score of 50
or
> more will promote you one division. Excellent guessing gets rewarded by
> double promotion so a score of 80 or more will promote you up 2 divisions.
>
> Thanks for playing and good luck,
