Subject: help needed to identify scroll and tegata
Date: Sat, 04 Sep 2004 10:24:20 +0900
i just bought an original calligraphy and scroll. my japanese ability, such
as it is tells me the meaning of the kanji (written by the 29th inosuke by
the way) is "never lose heart". anybody got a better translation?
also the person who sold the scroll to me told me the teagata part was kaio
and i have to admit in the picture it does indeed look similar to that of
the ozeki. however when i took possession (after paying) i see that it is
not kaio (must have a word with that guy ). the kanji and seal indicate it
is ( B ). i can't seem to find a rikishi with this kanji online. the
problem is i don't know how it is pronounced (shu-tama?) . again can anyone
shed some light?
thanks in advance
john
