It is an unspoken "rule" that the Oyakata can/should receive 25% of any $
that comes in to his rikishi.
However , there are SOME Oyakata who have taken most of the $ or
everything. ( I have heard these stories directly from the men themselves-
this is not hearsay). The Rikishi cannot really argue about it. In certain
situations, they have to arrange the event so that they know where the money
goes, but they often do not. Asa's wedding in Mongolia may be under his
control. The one in Japan may not be.
This is not an area that is published or even talked about. It is an
individual thing, according to the character of the Oyakata. Many Oyakata
are fine people who support and share properly with their rikishi.
