[sumo] oyakata % ?
Hello everybody !
Well, the list is really calm during the olympics ;)
I have a question for all the sumo experts here, that came up on the French
sumo forum.
In fact, I heard that Asashoryu said to his oyakata that he (Takasago)
didn't want him to get married, so he won't give him the 60 % of the
benefits from his wedding that the oyakata asked. This rose a question : Is
it really customary that the oyakata receive 60% of the benefits made by a
rikishi (like benefits from a wedding, or from a danpatsu-shiki, or somethin
g else) ? I can understand that a rikishi gives back some of the benefits he
makes to his oyakata, who is supporting him. But is there really a "fixed'
pourcentage ? And what kind of benefits are concerned ?
This is something about sumo I had never heard of before, and that I find
quite intersting. I hope that some of the "sumo specialists" here will be
able to give me some clues about that. Thanks in advance.
