Subject: [sumo] Sumo media in US?
Date: Mon, 9 Aug 2004 10:07:42 -0700 (PDT)

Sorry if this has been discussed previously, but I just recently discovered this mailing list. Prior to this, my only access to seeing Sumo was on ESPN2, but just as I was becoming truly addicted they seem to have dropped that show.

My satellite provider (Directv) seems to offer no other solution to seeing bashos on TV, but is there perhaps any provider of dvd or vhs versions of recent bashos?

Thanks,
Dave Miller

Dave,

Dish Network has a package called TV Japan which includes live coverage of the Makuuchi matches, as well as a 20 minute recap of each day's action. The live action also is available in English. It runs $30 month and you buy your own dish of course. Check them out if they're in your area. Good luck.
