[sumo] [GAMES] Natsu 2004 SB Masters Results & World Championship Update

Greetings from Calcutta, India!

With considerable delay due to my current world travels beginning right
after basho end and ongoing until early August, the 2004 Natsu Basho
SUPER BANZUKE Masters Series results and the updated standings in the
2004 SB Sumo Games World Championship are now finally calculated and
online for you all to see! :-)

Kintamayama makes history in Natsu 2004, as he becomes the first player
to win both types of Green Mawashi... in the "old" SB Masters format
that included only the top-10 players on the SUPER BANZUKE, as well as
the "new" format we have today. Kintamayama thus also adds his name to
the elite group of multiple Green Mawashi winners, and he did so simply
by scoring fat points in 6 different games, even though he did not win
a Yusho in any of the19 points-earning games (which is also a first!)
Congratulations!!

Tamanaogijima is beaten out to second place, but receives the
Shukun-sho for his generally excellent basho, which included a
dominating Sekitori-Toto Yusho where he seemed to be on the way to a
zensho until senshuraku.

Hamanoyama gets the Gino-sho for the overall best balanced performance
in both, pre-basho and daily games (the Yusho winner is not eligible
for any sansho). Hamanoyama, who fights under the name Jinzai in some
games, has made a very impressive comeback after a hiatus in some of
the games, including the Sekitori-Oracle Yusho.

Ulsimitsuki finally gets the Kanto-sho, for having scored top-10
positions in no less than 7 games in Natsu 2004! It is Ulsimitsuki's
second sansho in SBMS Competition, after having earned the Gino-sho in
Haru 2004.

Congratulations to all the sansho winners as well!

2004 SB Sumo Games World Championship update:

With his SBMS victory in Natsu Basho, Kintamayama now also has taken
over the lead in the World Championship race after 3 of 6 events,
replacing previous leader Choshu-yuki, who had a rather poor showing.
Kintamayama is followed by a triumvirate of Germans, led by Mariohana,
and also including Ulsimitsuki and Tamanaogijima, who both had a very
good Natsu Basho. The husband-wife combination of Norizo and
Choshu-yuki hold down fifth and sixth places, with Flohru, Igiski,
Heikotoriki and Gaijingai rounding out the top-10.

The FULL standings in the 2004 SB Sumo Games World Championship can be
seen at http://www.superbanzuke.com/sbsgwc.html

See you in Nagoya!
Cheers
Zenjimoto
