[sumo] Shanghai-born rikishi revealed

Kotonoumi,  from Sadogatake-beya - 24 years old, at his highest ever
rank of Sandanme 46. Entered Sumo in March 1997. He grew up in Shanghai
till the age of 15, then moved to Japan with his parents. 7 years ago,
he entered Sumo at the behest of a friend. His Chinese name is Chin Shi
Sou (or something similar-陳詩聡). He acquired Japanese citizenship a
while ago, so he is listed as Tokyo-shusshin. He is on the tour as
Hidenoyama Oyakata's (former Hasegawa) tsukebito. As soon as the
entourage hit Shanghai, he has been busy with the local media, answering
questions and being interviewed. "I had forgotten most of my Chinese,
but it seems to have come back to me these last few days", he said. His
50 year old mother has joined him on his "homecoming" as well, and is
planning a family dinner with her mother and other relatives. "Since I'm
an only child, my grandmother is eagerly looking forward to seeing me
again, after 7 years. I think she may be a bit surprised by my
mage-look", he said, smiling broadly. Hidenoyama Oyakata: "When he
speaks Chinese, he becomes quite lively.. He's a really serious kid, so
I hope he will be motivated by this experience and gambarize", he said,
airing his expectations.
