[sumo] [Off topic] What's up with Akebono these days??
It seems the rumors of Akebono fighting Mike Tyson next were unfounded.
He is now in South Korea to promote a K-1 event to be held there in
July. (World GP Seoul Tournament). He is slated to fight none other than
Asashouryuu's elder brother, 30 year old Sumyabazar. Rumors are about
that he may be fighting the Korean Scirrum champion Chu Hon Man, the 24
year old, 2.17 meter giant, a whopping 14 centimeters taller than
Akebono as well. Papers are saying after his first two losses, he needs
a win badly here. So, it's shaping up to be a Sumo-themed championship,
with Ozumo, Mongolian Sumo and Korean Sumo. One problem though-it will
be an 8 man knockout tournament (Asian GP, part of the whole tourney),
and it seems Akebono will have to go through three more opponents to
win, and the stamina question arises again. "This is a great chance for
me so I agreed to participate. I'm 98% sure I'll win the yusho. I can't
lose to Sumyabazar, since he is the current Yokozuna's brother. In any
case I'll be concentrating on every match as it happens. "
He will be starting serious training on the second (today)
Pic from press conference-45 newspapers sent 150 reporters to cover
it..See if you can identify Akebono in this lousy picture..
