Takanohana beya's inaugural party was held today at a hotel in Tokyo. 1500 guests were present. "It's been a year since my intai-zumo, and I am pleased with how things are going. I'd like to create an atmosphere that will help the young rikishi feel at ease at our heya,", he said at a press conference. The assembly hall was decked with flowers sent by anyone who is anyone in the Sumo world (I bet none from Sendagawa Oyakata..). After Takanonami's intai, the once powerhouse heya is left with no Sekitori. "I hope that will change soon and we'll have a strong Sekitori", he added.
