Re: [sumo] The Great Switcharoo
Either case, we can't prove one way or the other.
So, why bother?
Why now?
Because his win-loss record is getting impeckable. That's why.
When he is getting closer to perfect in win-loss column, expectation of his
behavior is equal to his records.
It happened with other great yokozuna as well, including how they behave on
the dohyo.
For example, Taiho was criticized for his "avoid losing" sumo style and
lack of crispness from his dohyo-iri.
Kitanoumi was criticized for his "confident behavior" on the dohyo. He did
not give hands to the losers.
These great yokozuna had been doing the same while they were ranked lower,
but the criticism appeared when they kept winning.
So, nothing new. Criticizing strong yokozuna is a tradition, as well, in a
sense.
