[sumo] Takamisakari as weak as a 15-years old teenager!!

Hi list,

On the 9th of february, a few sekitori have their grip strength measured in
a physical examination, organised by the NSK. During the grip strength, it
came out that Takamisakari provided quite poor test results. Takamisakari's
grip strength got down to 38 kgf for his right hand and 41 kgf for his left
hand. This is quite alarming for a yotsu-zumo guy. Indeed, these figures
only stand what a 15-years old teenager (boys or girls !!) is supposed to
achieve (40 kg on average). I guess this incredibly low grip strength is
something rather new, as this is the first I heard of this piece of news.
But, as I know only former yokozuna Wakanohana III reached only 50 kgf for
both hands while being quite a skillfull mawashi man, this may not be
something new. Anyway, I am pretty astonished by these low results from such
a prowerfull rikishi.

During this examination, Asashoryu reached 81 kgf for both hands. There is
no news about Kaio's figures in this grip strength measurement, but I know
that, a few years ago, Kaio got 110 kgf for his left hand and 100 kgf for
his right hand !! In that time, Kaio was nothing but the best, in terms of
grip strength, and I guess this was also the case on the 9th of February
2004.

Greetings from Paris,
Thierry
