Re: [sumo] Please please don't talk non Sumo articles, also dontchat here

Hi!

The Bench Sumo mailing list is different to the sumo mailing list (where the content should be just about Sumo). The Bench Sumo Mailing List was set up, separate to the main list in order to play the fantasy sumo game 'Bench Sumo' during the Hon-Basho, and for discussion about the game in the interims. Understandably discussion about sumo appear on it from time to time, but it is meant for primarily for Bench Sumo - and those that play this game.

I hope this clears up any misunderstandings as to the purpose of this ML.

All the best,

Jejima (BS Rijicho)

This is a matter of personal preference, and I realize that I may be in a
more fortunate position than others; i.e., the number of messages that I
receive in no way has any effect on how much I pay for my internet service.

With that caveat out of the way, I strenuously resist attempts to restrict
the discussion of topics other than those that can be classified as strictly
sumo-related. There is room, I think, for sumo list members to discuss, to
a limited extent, non-sumo related matters, or at least to digress in some
limited ways from those topics. I really enjoy the light-hearted banter
that goes back and forth from time to time.

If someone is not interested in those topics, that person can simply hit the
"delete" button.

I participate in several mail lists, and it is only on the sumo list where
digressions from what could strictly be called the subject matter of the
list arouses as much opposition as it does, i.e., posts like the one above.
Ironically, it is the list where there exists the least number of such
digressions.

Respectfully yours,
