Yep. Watching some short skinny guy in silk pajamas swing around some
tassels may turn you people on but for true fans like me, we want to see
some action. How many people go to watch SUMO purely for the rituals? (apart
from the GAIJIN SUMO CROWD that I so often lambaste)

I think it's entertaining, too, otherwise I wouldn't be
watching it. But calling it *only* entertainment is another matter
completely. But I accord you the privilege of thinking whatever you like, I
 just don't agree.

Let's get some terms straight. It's my 'right' to think as I wish. Your
'accord' is laughable and totally undesired. Your portentous declamations
are also unworthy of a regular sports fan. You'd be better off at
'rec.arts.aesthetes'.

No they wouldn't. It would disrupt the agreed upon SUMO facade that you
swallow up so readily.

And if not, which I gather is your point, why would they object to being
called wrestlers?

They seek to distinguish themselves from ZEN NIHON PRO RES and SHIN NIHON
PRO RES.

They do entertain, so they're entertainers, right? Well, they *do* wrestle,
so then they're
wrestlers, no?

Yep, but they and the KYOKAI prefer to wrap themselves in the 'sacred aura
of SUMO' even though they don't believe in it.
(It's a good marketing strategy) You, however, certainly do!
