Grand champion of sumo wrestling Yokozuna Asashoryu (D. Dagvadorj) received
the United Nations Worldwide Unity Award last week.
 
The award has been bestowed upon people of outstanding renown in politics,
culture, and sports since 1988. Asashoryu was both the first Mongolian and
the first sumo wrestler to receive the award.
 
Asashoryu joins a prestigious host of laureates which includes Nelson
Mandela, Mikhael Gorbachev, Pope John Paul II, Mother Teresa, and Mohammed 
Ali
