[sumo] Day 11 Aki basho
I know it's a little late to be talking about Day 11, but I've busy since I
got back from my trip to Japan.
I made it to day 11 and had a great time. As I've seen reported before, I
bought a (relatively) chaep ticket and sat in the lower level expensive
seats. I bought a Y3600 C Isu, and spent the day in a C Masu, with all 4
cushions all to myself. Attendance was way down in the middle of the week.
I sat about 4 masu to the right of the center TV camera, just in front of a
broadcast control booth. I had practically the same view at everyone
watching TV had. And if you were watching on that day and heard a couple
loud "Chiyotaikai" yells, that was me. I may have been a little too loud
for the folks in front of me, but I think they enjoyed it more than they
were annoyed by it. He won that day, so I had a great time. I heartily
recommend getting there early. And this time they gave me a program in
Japanese. Last time (Jan 2000), they gave me a program in English that
listed only the Juryo and Makuuchi matches. The Japanese program covered
the entire day, but it took me a few matches to find where I was in the
schedule. But that was fun too.
The only downer was that I didn't see the guy with the fan during the
Yokozuna Dohyo-Iri.
