The card looks pretty old but I think it's the 19th
Yokozuna Hitachiyama Taniemon who died in 1922 at the
age of 48. He was the first rikishi to receive the
Kyokai sponsored funeral with the procession so long
that it literally filled the streets from Ueno Station
to Ryogokubashi. A legend in one of the golden ears
of Ozumo, Hitachiyama was one of the most popular
rikishis of all time.
He visited the US in 1912 and paid a visit to the then
President Roosevelt for the Kyokai. He helped to
build Dewanoumi Beya from a small heya to a powerhouse
by developing Yokozuna Tochigiyama, Oonishiki and Tsunenohana.
