Makunouchi Banzuke Page
[sumo] shikona dictionary
Several months ago, Kinatamayama-zeki comiled EDICT-format dictionary of
sumo names. He kindly sent me a copy, and I seized the idea, and the
result is the list of not only all more or less current sekitori and
foreign rikishi (credit to Kintamayama-zeki), but also all makuuchi
rikishi since mid '90s, all retired sekitori that were in Kofuji-zeki's
database (as sucked from NSK pages), all modern toshiyori, all
sansho and makuuchi yusho winners ever, all yokozuna and most of the
ozeki... Of course, this is never-ending work, and I intend to expand is
as I find time and energy. I also intend to mail it to EDICT home, to
expand their somewhat limited shikona treasury. I'd appreciate any
imput, corrections, suggestions - if you think a rikishi should be here
and isn't, let me now (and prefferably point me to a Japanese source for
his shikona).
The list, in EDICT dictionary format (EUC encoding) is downloadable at
http://pierre.fkit.hr/~jmacan/SUMO_NAMES.zip
Thanks again to Kintamayama-zeki for great idea and initial work,
Kofuji-zeki for automation that sucks the NSK pages for data and sharing
that with the rest of us, and all of you who will help to improve this
list even more.
