With all the candidates it took a while for the final certified list
to be published.  Scrolling through the official list today, I finally
found the person in question:

Kurt E. "Tachikaze" Rightmyer
West Covina
Middleweight Sumo Wrestler

A little googling reveals:

Where Mr. Rightmyer placed 4th in Bracket D going 0-3 at the 2002 US
Sumo Open.  No word on his results at the 2003 US Sumo Open which just
occured (August 3).

Mr. Rightmyer received a bronze medal:
