I thought there was a rule that forces rikishi to retire if they didn't
reach makushita after 4-5 years of struggle. I guess this rule may deal with
sandame instead of makushita. Anybody knows something on this topic ?

As I read nothing about it, I also want to tell you that the Ozumo Chukei
magazine issued on the 1st of July (Kyokutenho is on the cover) features a
very convenient booklet in the middle of the magazine, in which you find a
picture of ALL the rikishi in Ozumo. I highly recommend this magazine for
those who can get it. It's fun to put a picture on a name, and this magazine
allowed me to see Ichinoya's face for the first time. Tears almost came to
my eyes !
