Re: [sumo] next...

Personally, I think Kaio will choke...again...He's too hurt and too old to become Yokozuna at this time, and if he did become Yokozuna, he would most likely have less than 20 basho at this rank, due to his back being bad. I think Chiyotaikai will become Yokozuna, but not for another 2 years or so. I predict Kyushu 2004. Takamisakari will make it to Ozeki, and be a Musoyama-like presence, being less than inspiring, but somehow staying at the rank. No one looks quite devestating in the lower ranks, with the possible exception of Kokkai and Futenho. I agree with Jan, we'll have to see how they do in Makuuchi.

OK, the list has been busy with Asashoryu and Lynn, but what I am wondering....is who is the next yokozuna.
Kaio?
Chiyotaikai?
I am not too sure. I figure Takamisakari is most likely the next Ozeki, though I am pulling for Wakanosato. I think the next Yokozuna is in Juryo or below, maybe Futenro or some other up and comer.

I think Kaio will make Yokozuna first followed by Chiyotaikai some time (a year?) later. As for the next Ozeki, I personally don't think Takamisakari will ever get there (I admit that's just a hunch) nor will Wakanosato, and so I would look for a youngster, but don't ask me who. Futenro may look strong now but we will first have to wait and see how he will make the transition into Makuuchi
