I live in Hamburg, Germany, and I was thinking of an example such as the
german footballer Effenberg who once showed his displeasure with the german fans
during a world cup game with a particular one-fingered gesture. He was ripped up
by the media after that and spent some time in verbal seclusion until the heat
went down. Perhaps such a strategy is not possible for a yokozuna and this
particular incident was in the early 90´s when the media landscape was less
intrusive than it is nowadays, however in the current lose-lose situation such a
withdrawal still may be Asa´s best bet if it is coupled with perfect courtesy
and ended after a period of a few months. Another alternative would be to let
his Oyaykata speak for him whilst professing a phase of inner meditation in an
attempt to achieve a higher level of maturity. Or perhaps he´ll start making
jokes like Eminem,

Clive
