When we visited Kasugano Beya to see Tochisakae this
May, my wife asked him for his autograph and instead
he gave us his Tegata.

He asked us how may we wanted, so we said...ahem,
Five. Then he yelled to the back of room to bring five
Tegatas to one of his tsukebitos or junior rikishis
there.

Each has his tegata and shikona written (I presumed to
be his handwriting) but no emboss. Now how do we know
they are really his not one of their Kasugano Beya
folks? I really don't understand why would a rikishi
give a fake one as tegatas last long time after they
retire and something of momentos of their career.

Now I can understand someone tries to peddle the fake
ones on eBay or something as there are always scam
artists around but when rikishis give Tegata, normally
there are no financial value to them as they are
freely given.

As for mine I cannot begin to doubt that these are
fake as Tochisakae is such a sincere person, one of
the nicest guys around.

Anyway I am pretty glad that my gift to him, a NHL
certified Size XXL Leafs Jersey fit him and he really
liked it. At least that's what his brother called me
to tell me later. But would you ever give a fake NHL
jersey to a sekitori? Next one I probably will take a
Habs jersey but I am not sure if I ever take one for
the Mighty Ducks...
