I beg to differ here. I have original tegata by Kaiho and Ohinode (who is
retired and enjoying life fishing). Neither bears the stamp; however, they were
both given to me by a VERY reliable source (read: someone very important in
the sumo community). I also have two Asashoryu tegata that he, personally,
gave to me. One was made, in May 2002, in a red handprint, the other just this
year, as a yokozuna, with a black handprint. The red handprint does not have
the stamp, the black, has two.
As an aside, I think it was last September, when I partook of some sashimi
personally caught by the former Ohinode. I don't remember what it was, obviously
a tuna-like fish, perhaps Marlin. He had literally caught the fish the day
before. I've had so-called "fresh" sashimi before, but NOTHING ever tasted as
soft and tender as Ohinode's fresh catch.
