I think it's something to do with Akinoshima's retirement,
and thus it must have been a last minute decision.
It was also the last Yokozuna dohyo-iri for Aki, who had
been assuming the role of Tachimochi or Tsuyuharai for
Taka (and Waka) for a long time. It was a nice gesture
to have him serve as Tachimochi, which is customarily assumed
by the rikishi with higher rank.
If I remember correctly, Musashimaru and Asashoryu accompanied
Taka on the last dohyo-iri of the Haru Jungyo, and on Terao's
danpatsushiki, I think Wakanosato was the Tachimochi and
Tamanoshima was the Tsuyuharai.
